UK Signs £9 Billion Nuclear Submarine Deal with Rolls-Royce

Britain’s Defence Boost: £9 Billion Submarine Contract with Rolls-Royce

 

• The UK has signed a £9 billion nuclear submarine deal with British firm Rolls-Royce to boost national security and boost jobs.
• The eight-year Unity contract, worth approximately £9 billion, will provide full support of the in-service UK Royal Navy submarine fleet.
• The deal also includes continued support for the build and commission of Dreadnought Class submarines and the beginning of the previously announced SSN-AUKUS contracts.
• Rolls-Royce designs, builds, and maintains all of the nuclear reactors that power the Royal Navy’s fleet of submarines.
• The deal is expected to create more than 1,000 UK jobs and safeguard a further 4,000 roles.
• The deal was announced at Rolls-Royce’s nuclear reactor production facility in Derby by defence secretary John Healey.
• The deal is designed to boost national security and economic growth.
