Purpose and Scope:
Provide leadership to a divorce team to operate and maintain the AAAF station landfills and provide for collection and disposal of refuse and wet garbage, as well as manage, operate and maintain the AAAF incineration systems IAW HN standards, Ascension Final Governing Standards, and AF directives requirements and support the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) mission of the Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
Essential Responsibilities:
Review the AAAF waste streams and make recommendations for waste minimization and recycling to reduce or eliminate the waste stream as part of the pollution prevention opportunity assessment.
Maintain a list of all storage facilities for hazardous materials and keep an inventory of all hazardous materials used in those facilities including pesticides, ODSs, and EPA toxic chemicals IAW SLD 45 Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
Comply with Federal, State, International/Host Nation, and local safety and environmental directives as applicable based on location, including current version of PSFB HAZMAT Management Program Plan and AFMAN 32-7002.
Determine proper methods for cleanup and decontamination by obtaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for spilled hazardous materials.
Track and report waste weights for Municipal Solid Waste and Construction and Demolition Debris.
Manage the food waste disposal process, landfills, and manage, operate and maintain the two AAAF incineration systems.
Make every practical effort to divert waste from landfills or incinerators through reuse, donation, recycling, composting and mulching, or other waste diversion activities.
Manage and store PCB items to include arrangements for the final pickup and transportation from the downrange station storage points to the SLD 45 CONUS designated storage point.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Five years of experience in the Waste Management Field (Solid and Wastewater).
Three years of experience leading or supervising a crew.
Combustion Technology Training Certificate preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and write English is required.
Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain a work visa.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area.
Work involves standing, bending, reaching, stretching, crouching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequently lifts items weighting 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
