The Role
You will be part of the engineering team that develops marine navigation and bridge systems for OSI’s government and naval markets. You will play a critical role in developing the overall system requirements, design, and definition for OSI’s complex products. You will execute various systems engineering functions throughout the life cycle of the project. You will work with various organizations and system components (software engineering, hardware engineering, integration and test, production, manufacturing, and logistics) and may take on the technical lead of a project.
Key Responsibilities
Develop system designs, define systems architecture, define interfaces and specifications, perform trade studies, and document the design by writing SSDDs, ICDs, and SRS.
Perform requirement analysis, traceability, and maintenance of requirements.
Coordinate the design of subsystems and integrate the total system.
Identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies.
Develop and recommend corrective actions.
Design to government standards, including Military and IMO standards, ensuring ongoing compliance and adherence to requirements.
Ensure availability, reliability, and other logistics support considerations are part of the system design process.
Review obsolescence issues and recommend design changes.
Develop design concepts and generate technical proposals in response to Requests for Quotation (RFQ).
Lead during customer design reviews and acceptance events.
Lead during system integration tests, trials, and acceptance tests at customer facilities.
Write acceptance test procedures.
Manage scope of work, schedule work, estimate effort and costs, and identify technical risks, effectively communicating status on a regular basis to management.
Work in both a team environment and independently with minimum supervision.
Mentor other system engineers and coordinate activities of other personnel.
You Bring
8 years engineering experience, minimum 6 years’ experience in Systems Engineering; Experience in marine electronics and integrated bridge systems a significant asset;
Experience in defense or government domain preferably in naval ship sector a significant asset;
Experience leading a team of Engineers on projects;
Proven track record in the timely delivery of engineering related projects;
Strong knowledge of marine navigation and tactical sensors or systems;
Excellent knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, standards and best practices;
Working experience in network design and architecture;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Familiarity with requirements and verification management tools such as DOORS;
Knowledge of safety engineering and human factors engineering is an asset.
Eligible to obtain and maintain a location relevant security clearance;
