Salary: Circa £45,000
What You’ll Be Doing
Resolving a range of engineering issues and problems
Provide, review and adhere to specifications in accordance with stakeholder requirements
Define the qualification, test and commissioning requirements of major equipment and fluid systems
Manage suppliers and sub-tiers during manufacturing to ensure design intent, technical goodness / trials of systems and equipment
Manage design change / manufacturing non-conformances / concessions
Support testing / trials of systems and equipment
Undertake functional design and/or provide qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety
Work independently with limited technical direction or as part of a small sub team
Essential
Your skills and experiences:
Experience in Mechanical / Manufacturing engineering lifecycle
Self-motivated problem solver with proven engineering ability
Possess excellent communication skills to enable you to articulate technical arguments / decisions clearly, logically and simply to audiences of different technical abilities
Desirable
Knowledge of Thermofluid Systems / Nuclear Systems / Submarine Propulsion Systems
Knowledge of Rotating Equipment (Gearboxes, Turbines, Motors, Pumps, etc)
Shipbuilding industry experience

The Secondary Propulsion Team
As the Senior Mechanical Secondary Propulsion Engineer, you will be working within the Secondary Propulsion team made up of circa 30 engineers with varying levels of experience who are responsible for the design, build and testing of all Submarine propulsion systems and equipment.
Working on the Dreadnought programme, you will support the delivery of 4 new Submarines for the Royal Navy to replace the current Vanguard class. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria
