Thales Australia’s Mulwala facility is a leading and expanding chemical manufacturing plant, supplying propellants, explosives, munitions, and chemicals to both Defence and commercial customers, locally and internationally. As a licensed Major Hazard Facility (MHF), safety and efficiency are at the heart of everything we do.
We are currently seeking a Production Manager to oversee the safe and efficient manufacture of propellants. This role will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of products and managing the assigned production lines at the Mulwala site.
Working at our Mulwala site on Yorta Yorta land, your role purpose is –
Lead the operational planning, direction, and control of activities to achieve the propellant production plan, ensuring production efficiency and cost-of-goods (COGs) targets are met
Ensure the delivery of high-quality products on time, in alignment with the production plan, while maintaining strict adherence to performance and safety standards
Take a leading role in Lean manufacturing projects to streamline processes and enhance productivity
Maximize the efficiency of all production, technical, and industrial capabilities to meet operational goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Realign existing manufacturing systems, processes, and practices to meet evolving business needs, objectives, and strategies
Provide leadership and mentorship to the management team and operations staff, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional growth within the business unit
On day one in this role, we’ll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:
Extensive experience in production management within a chemical manufacturing environment, ideally in the defence, munitions, or Major Hazard Facility (MHF) sectors
Strong track record of delivering high-quality products on time and in accordance with production schedules and performance criteria
Leadership experience in managing production teams, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on operational excellence and cost control
Proficiency in analytical and problem-solving techniques
Relevant tertiary qualification
Must be eligible for an Australian defence clearance
Must be available to work site based
