This role is based in Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) Portsmouth.
The role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace for at least 60% of the time in the office (subject to building capacity) or out on official business and working from home as a personal choice.
There may be occasional travel to other stakeholder locations such as MOD DE&S Bristol.

Job Summary
Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) in Whale Island, Portsmouth, is the nerve centre of the Naval Service. It upholds operations around the globe and provides the ships, people, aircraft, and equipment to deliver the UK’s defence policy. Director Navy Acquisition (DNA) is the Navy’s centre of expertise for leading the delivery of major acquisition programmes. Programmes in our Portfolio are grouped into Programme Management Offices according to the capability being delivered: Ships Acquisition, Support Shipping Acquisition, Equipment & Systems Acquisition, Future Support Acquisition, Commando Force and Defence Maritime Services (Next Generation). Job Description
The Directorate Navy Acquisition (DNA) was created to manage and optimise the current resources and expertise in the Navy’s acquisition programmes to professionalise the delivery of complex programmes in Navy Command.
The role of Programme Risk Manager sits within this construct and supports the delivery of DNA’s strategic objectives.
The role of DNA Programme Risk Manager works directly to one of two Senior Risk Managers in accordance with P3M principles. The Risk Manager may be assigned to support one or more programmes within the Acquisition Portfolio and will involve working closely with the programme team and other areas of the Headquarters.
Main Responsibilities Will Include:
Engaging closely with stakeholders including Directorate colleagues. programme management, subject matter experts and pan-Defence Lines of Development (DLOD) focal points, implement the DNA Risk Management Approach ensuring that programme risks, issues and opportunities are identified, assessed, challenged, monitored, reviewed and good practice is followed.
Facilitate the development of risk response plans, ensuring they have owners, are reviewed and effective. Escalating, as necessary. Update Project Online risk register to ensure that the most accurate information is recorded.
Prepare and present timely and accurate programme risk information for reporting (such as Programme Portfolio Management Reporting System) and Programme Boards, Working Groups and other meetings, as necessary. Scrutinise DLOD risk inputs to quarterly Programme Boards for accuracy.
Where the management of risk contingency has been delegated to the Programme Manager (PM), provide risk information and support to the PM’s Control Account Manager function to ensure that risk contingency profiles are accurate.
Support the development of investment cases through analysis of risk within schedule activities and estimated costs. Prepare supporting risk management products to inform and justify required investment decision.
Support the provision of schedule management, benefits identification and tracking and assumptions management for programmes across the Directorate.
Provision of PCT related activity to support Programmes across the Directorate.
Support the development of P3M training, mentoring and upskilling activity across Acquisition.
