Purpose and Scope:
Operate and maintain the station landfills and provide for collection and disposal of refuse and wet garbage, as well as manage, operate and maintain the AAAF incineration systems IAW HN standards, Ascension Final Governing Standards, and AF directives requirements and support the mission of the Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF) of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP).
Essential Responsibilities:
Conduct monthly inspections of landfills for unauthorized disposal of incompatible and hazardous waste.
Operate and maintain the AAAF station landfills and provide for collection and disposal of refuse and wet garbage, as well as manage, operate and maintain the AAAF incineration systems IAW HN standards, Ascension Final Governing Standards, and AF directives.
Ensure that only authorized personnel have access to landfills and that only approved materials are placed in the landfill.
Perform regularly scheduled pickup from dumpsters, to prevent overflowing and spillage.
Inspect dumpster areas at least weekly and shall clean adjacent areas within a 30-meter radius whenever spilled refuse is present to remove spilled refuse.
Maintain all dumpsters in a presentable, clean and usable condition, free of rust holes and damage.
Manage the food waste disposal process, landfills, and manage, operate and maintain the two AAAF incineration systems.
Track and report waste weights for Municipal Solid Waste and Construction and Demolition Debris.
Make every practical effort to divert waste from landfills or incinerators through reuse, donation, recycling, composting and mulching, or other waste diversion activities.
Manage and store PCB items to include arrangements for the final pickup and transportation from the downrange station storage points to the SLD 45 CONUS designated storage point.
Ensure Amentum Safety, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) and Environmental procedures are complied with.
Provide other driving and custodial duties, as required.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
Ability to read and write English is required.
Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain a work visa.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Use industrial equipment and work outside in all adverse conditions.
Physical requirements include being able to lift as a minimum seventy pounds when required, sitting, standing, kneeling, crouching, driving, chopping, long hours behind a vehicle, walking short distances, when required.
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
