About the job:
Based in Brain L’Alleud (Belgium) you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join the NATO Infrastructure Services Centre (NISC), which is accountable for planning and executing the full lifecycle management activities (design, transition and operations) for the identified area of responsibility. NISC provides generic, domain independent, technical functionality that enables and facilitates the operation and use of Information Technology resources.
We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Engineer (SOA-Container) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities, amongst others:
Architect and deploy highly available, secure, and scalable Kubernetes clusters on-premises or in the cloud;
Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and deploy them on Kubernetes, optimizing for resource utilization and performance;
Champion and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi to manage and automate Kubernetes deployments and configurations;
Establish robust monitoring and logging solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack to ensure the health and performance of Kubernetes clusters and applications;
Continuously analyze and optimize Kubernetes cluster performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and resource constraints;
Implement security best practices and controls to safeguard Kubernetes clusters from threats and vulnerabilities;
Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to Kubernetes and containerized applications, providing timely solutions to incidents and outages.

About you:
The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:
A minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 2 years post-related experience;
At least 2 years’ experience in Kubernetes Orchestrator service management including below:
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments, including designing, deploying, and managing large-scale clusters.
Deep understanding of containerization technologies like Docker, Podman and container orchestration principles.
Experience with some of the major providers Rancher, Openshift, Tanzu, Docker.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Pulumi.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
Experience with service meshes like Istio or Linkerd.
Experience with HELM and CI/CD (ArgoCD/ GitOps )
Proficient in scripting languages like Bash or Python for automation tasks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
