Role & Responsibilities
We are seeking candidates to undertake opportunities to deploy to US Navy shipyards (primarily Pearl Harbour, Hawaii) before the end of 2024. Placements will be between 12-24 months. During this time, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom learning.
This work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
Opportunities are available immediately and individuals wishing to express interest in a position should be available and interested in being repatriated in the near term.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia. Living and working in WA will be non-negotiable so please consider this when applying.
Please note this is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
About The Role:
Install, repair and maintain new and existing electrical cabling, systems, circuits, associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical cable and wiring systems for ships power, lighting, communications and control circuits.
Inspect, troubleshoot and repair switchboards.
Work from, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the work.
Perform installation, maintenance, modification, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of submarine systems and components such as fly by wire controls, ships ballast and control panels, electric motors, controllers, sensors, generators and inverters.
Perform inspections, troubleshoot and repair ships battery and associated ships equipment.
Eligibility Criteria
The successful person must possess:
ASC requires Australian electrical trade certificate, licensed Electrician.
Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance.
Australian Citizenship
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
