Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.

The Defence College of Support (DCSp) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service personnel in Supply, Distribution, Driving, Catering, Policing & Guarding and Personnel Administration.

The college is made up of 3 schools; Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) predominantly based at Worthy Down; Defence School of Policing and Guarding (DSPG) in Southwick Park; and Defence School of Transport (DST) at Leconfield. The college headquarters is also based at Worthy Down – a newly built, modern campus in Hampshire.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

This role sits within DSLA, and the Supply Training Wing (STW), providing dynamic training to students from the Army, RAF and Navy, Royal Marines and Civil Service.

We have an exciting opportunity to fill a Logistics Instructor role, as part of our team at Worthy Down.

Candidates should be confident in providing the appropriate leadership and direction to trainees, and breed innovative ideas to build on an intuitive and exciting package in a learning environment. The selected candidates will have a good understanding of Windows mainly Microsoft, have good time management and be able to run courses independently (training will be provided).

We can offer the successful candidates training in Defence Instructional Techniques and other relevant applications, along with developmental courses. Once trained the selected candidate will deliver a bespoke training package which is produced and maintained by the department, complete formal and informal assessments, promote positive behaviour and provide a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Specific Tasks That Our Logistics Instructors Will Deliver:

Instructing on courses
Producing practical exercises and assessment projects in support of the training.
Marking assessment exercises.
Compiling course result sheets and student progress reports.
Researching and updating training material.
Making recommendations for the improvements of teaching standards techniques.
Ensure that all training conducted to a high standard
Maintenance of class standard during class.
