STOXX 600 Ends Higher After Banks, Healthcare, and Tech Stocks
• STOXX 600 index ended higher on Tuesday due to gains in banks and healthcare companies.
• HSBC HSBA and Banco Santander SAN led gains to the banks index, which was trading around levels last seen in October 2008.
• Healthcare shares gained 1%, with Novo Nordisk NOVO_B gaining 2.8%.
• Smith+Nephew SN. advancing 6.1% after annual sales and profit at the medical products maker beat analysts’ expectations.
• Telecommunication companies (.SXKP) gained 1.2%.
• A global-sell off in technology stocks pulled the tech index down 1.5%.
• ASML dipped 2.2%, while AI-exposed stocks including Schneider Electric SU and Siemens Energy ENR shed 3.6% and 7.3%, respectively.
• Miners (.SXPP) were the biggest losers on the index with a 1.8% fall.
• British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a fiscal change in spending direction.
• Unilever fell 1.3% after CEO Hein Schumacher announced a CEO stepdown. Heidelberg Materials HEI gained 3.6%.
• SIG Group SIGN dropped about 14% after the Swiss packaging company reported annual results.
