Boost to jobs and nuclear deterrent’ as Rolls-Royce wins £9bn MOD order
• Rolls-Royce has secured a £9bn nuclear submarine contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), marking the largest deal ever with the Ministry of Defence.
• The contract, spanning eight years, includes research and technology, design, production, and maintenance support for the nuclear reactors that power the Royal Navy’s fleet of submarines.
• The deal is expected to create more than 1,000 UK jobs and safeguard a further 4,000 roles, boosting national security and economic growth.
• The deal was announced at Rolls-Royce’s nuclear reactor production facility in Derby by defence secretary John Healey.
