• Rolls-Royce has signed its largest-ever contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), an eight-year agreement worth approximately £9 billion.
• The “Unity” contract stretches over eight years and includes all elements of research and technology, design, manufacture, and in-service support of the nuclear reactors that power the Royal Navy’s fleet of submarines.
• The deal is hailed by the government as a win for the economy and the UK’s nuclear deterrent.
• The deal is significant enough to have been given its own name – Unity – and amounts to a long-term provision of more of the same.
• The UK government announced a deal with Rolls-Royce to support the Royal Navy’s fleet of nuclear submarines, seen as boosting economic growth and national security.
