Lithuania Accepts 50 More JLTVs From US
• Lithuania has received 50 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) as part of a US foreign military sale signed in 2019.
• The package is the third batch shipped to Vilnius under the project’s second phase, covering 35 JLTVs in March 2024 and another 150 five months later.
• The first phase was completed in January 2024, delivering a total of 200 systems to the Baltic state.
• The final delivery of 50 vehicles was made on December 26, increasing Vilnius’ existing JLTV fleet to 200.
• Vilnius later requested an additional 300 tactical vehicles. An initial tranche of 50 JLTVs was delivered in 2021 and is now in service with the armed forces.
• Deliveries of the remaining JLTVs are expected to be complete by the end of 2025.
• Lithuania will continue to operate 500 pieces of JLTVs in total after receiving the remainder of the U.S.-manufactured vehicles through this year.
Lithuania Completes First Phase of JLTV Procurement
• Lithuania received the final batch of 50 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) from the US, fulfilling the 2019 contract for 200 JLTVs.
• The procurement is seen as a significant step in modernizing the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
• The Lithuanian Armed Forces will soon have a total of 500 JLTVs once the remaining American-made vehicles are delivered later this year.
• The JLTVs will be equipped with RBS 70 NG (MSHORAD) short-range air defense systems, which Lithuania purchased in July 2023.
• The acquisition continues Lithuania’s collaboration with the US and aims to meet the operational needs of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
• The total fleet of JLTVs is set to increase to 500 vehicles by 2025.
