Latvia signs EUR 370 million contract for ASCOD Infantry Fighting Vehicles
• Latvia has signed a €370 million contract with Spanish company “General Dynamics European Land Systems” to procure 42 ASCOD infantry fighting vehicles for the Latvian National Armed Forces.
• The contract was formalized on 30 January by Latvian National Armaments Director Major General Andis Dilāns and Vice President Alejandro Page Hernandez.
• The procurement includes logistics support and is expected to be delivered within the next year.
• The contract was signed in the amount of 373 million euros (more than 38.1 billion Russian rubles at the current exchange rate).
• The vehicles are to be delivered within the next year.
• The procurement process was launched in early 2023 and several potential suppliers were selected as part of a thorough feasibility study.
• The contract also includes the purchase of a simulator.
