Elbit Systems awarded USD 80 million contract to equip Israel’s F-16I fleet with advanced defence suite
• The Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) has awarded Elbit Systems Ltd. a contract worth approximately $80 million for the development and installation of an advanced Airborne Self-Protection Suite on the F-16I fleet.
• The suite is intended to enhance the survivability of the Israeli fighter jets, including cutting-edge electronic warfare solutions integrated with an advanced electro-optical passive missile warning and launch detection system.
• The suite will also include a chaff and a chaff-based electronic warfare solution.
• The upgrade will enable the Israeli Air Force’s preparation for an attack on Iran.
• Elbit Systems has secured a series of defense agreements in the past year, including deals for equipping aircraft and helicopters.
• The upgrade will enable the IAF’s Sufa variants to be equipped with an “advanced self-protection suite.”
• Elbit Systems has already provided a range of defense systems for various types of aircraft.
