Defence Ministry inks Rs 1,561 crore contract with Heavy Vehicles Factory for Army

 

• The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract worth Rs 1,561 crore with Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF) for the procurement of 47 Tank-72 Bridge Laying Tanks (BLT) for the Indian Army.
• The total cost of the contract is Rs 1,560.52 crore.
• The acquisition is expected to enhance battlefield mobility and offensive capability, support the ‘Make in India’ initiative, and boost the economy and employment opportunities.
• The acquisition is expected to strengthen the Army’s mechanised forces by providing essential bridging support during both offensive and defensive operations.
