It uses the energy resources available on board the aircraft: main engine fuel and electrical power from the batteries. The turbo-starter drives the main engine up to the optimal ignition speed, then provides assistance during acceleration up to starter cutout speed at about main engine idling speed. The sequence takes approximately 30 seconds.
