Contract for the further development of IRIS-T Block II signed
• Diehl Defence and the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) have signed a contract for the development and series production of the IRIS-T Block II Overall Missile System.
• The contract was signed in December 2024, marking an important step in the modernisation of the IRIS-T missile system.
• The IRIS-T Block II is the next iteration of the European-manufactured short-range missile, initially produced by Diehl Defence with contributions from an industrial consortium including Sweden, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Norway.
• The contract was finalized within a short timeframe through coordination between the IRIS-T and Diehl Defence.
• Diehl Defence stated that the contract marks an important milestone for the future of IRIS-T.
