Defence Ministry inks contract with HVF for 47 Tank-72 BLT worth Rs 1560 crore
• The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth Rs 1,561 crore with Heavy Vehicles Factory for the procurement of 47 T-72 Bridge Laying Tanks for the Indian Army.
• The equipment will enhance battlefield mobility and offensive capability, supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative and boosting the economy and employment opportunities.
• Other contracts include MoUs worth Rs 39,125cr to procure military equipment, Rs 19,000cr contract with Hindustan Shipyard, Rs 2,971cr contract with BDL, Rs 588.68cr contract with Mazagon Dock Limited, Rs 2956.89cr contract with BHEL, and Rs 200 crore contract for indigenous Anti-counterfeit inks.
Indian Defence Ministry Signs Rs 1,560 Crore Contract with Heavy Vehicles Factory
• The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract with Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF) for the procurement of 47 Tank-72 Bridge Laying Tanks (BLTs) for the Indian Army.
• The total cost of the contract is Rs 1,560.52 crore.
• The contract was signed by senior officials of the Ministry of Defence and HVF/AVNL in the presence of Defence Secretary, Rajesh Kumar Singh.
• The procurement of the BLTs is part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and modernization of the armoured units.
• The contract was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary, Rajesh Kumar Singh.
• The Indian Defence Research Wing also received orders for the BLTs.
