About the job
Your role:
As a Technician Assistant, you’ll support highly trained Army tradespeople in the maintenance, modification, repair and servicing of Army equipment. You’ll get to work in well-equipped Army workshops and out in the field on domestic exercises and deployments.
Whether you’re working on an Army base or out in the field on deployments and exercises, you’ll provide valuable technical support to ensure Army remains operational and mission ready. You’ll assist Army technicians in the maintenance, modification and repair of assorted vehicles, including Abrams Tanks and other Armoured Fighting Vehicles, generators, weapons systems and workshop equipment.
Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:
assisting qualified technical trades personnel in the conduct of technical maintenance and support tasks
employing safe working practices in a workshop environment
operating hand tools and handheld power tools
performing crane operations in support of equipment maintenance
working with specialist teams on advanced equipment

Salary:
In the Army you’ll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $56,385 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $83,610 per annum plus generous super.
Eligibility:
For this role, you must:
Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
Have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English, Mathematics and Science (with a Physics component desirable) and one other subject

Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we’ll give you tips to help you prepare
Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
