Purpose and Scope:
Provide maintenance, maintenance control, and repair services for Government furnished moorings (buoys), barges, watercraft, and other equipment that support water operations and vessel shipments (loading or unloading of cargo and fuel) to support the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) on Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide maintenance, maintenance control, and repair services for Government-furnished moorings (buoys), barges, watercraft, and other equipment that support water operations and vessel shipments (loading or unloading of cargo and fuel).
Perform semi-annual assessments of water assets.
Inspect, maintain, and repair assigned USAF buoys and mooring points at AAAF above and below water level.
Maintain all logbooks and records are properly maintained
Maintain orderly and safe boating conditions and enforces local marine ordinances.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Proven ability to maintain, repair, and operate the following boat classes:
(43′ Class) inboard engine (diesel fuel)
(30′-27′ Class) twin outboard (unleaded fuel)
(20′ Class) twin outboard (unleaded fuel)
(17′ Class) single outboard (unleaded fuel)
Scout outboard (unleaded fuel)
(55’ Class) Pontoon outboard (unleaded fuel)
High school diploma or equivalent training & experience.
Ability to read and write English is required.
Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country have ability to obtain a work visa.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area.
Work involves standing, bending, reaching, stretching, crouching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Frequently lifts items weighting 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
