About Your Role:
Join our team as an NDT Technical Officer, where you’ll perform specialised test and inspection tasks within the Thales Maritime/Ship Repair group. This role involves working hands-on with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques on naval and commercial assets, ensuring quality and safety compliance in a fast-paced and highly technical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct NDT inspections using Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Radiographic, and Welding Inspection techniques.
Assist the NDT Laboratory Manager in providing expert advice on NDT methods.
Perform technical analysis and prepare quality reports in line with NATA requirements.
Ensure compliance with ISO17025, AS/ISO9001, and NATA standards.
Support and mentor NDT Level 1, Level 2 technicians, and trainees.
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to industry standards.
Collaborate with internal and external clients to provide timely and cost-effective NDT services.
What We’re Looking For:
Trade or Technical Qualification in a related field.
ISO 9712 Level 2 Certification in Magnetic Particle & Dye Penetrant Testing.
NSW EPA Radiation User Licence (or willingness to obtain).
Strong knowledge of naval technologies and quality/OHS systems.
Excellent technical writing skills for reports and documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with teams and clients.
Welding Inspection certification (preferred but not essential).
Experience with ISO 9712 Level 2 in UT/RT (highly regarded).
