£173m MoD deal is boost for Teesside centre training ‘Top Gun’ jet pilots
• A £173m Ministry of Defence (MoD) training contract with British firm Draken has been signed to boost Teesside International Airport and support jobs.
• The deal will enable ongoing military training support with the Royal Air Force (RAF) for an additional four-year period.
• Draken’s ex-military pilots regularly fly against RAF Lighting.
• The deal is part of the Government’s Plan for Change, aiming to boost Teesside International Airport and support jobs across Teesside, Bournemouth, and the Midlands.
• The deal comes after the opening of a new hangar in 2022 to accommodate Draken’s fleet of Alca L-159E.
• The £173m MoD training contract with Draken Europe will support jobs across Teesside, Bournemouth, and the Midlands.
